Overview

The User Experience Specialist for the Learning design department will act as the final checkpoint for all courses prior to students enrolling and taking these classes online. This includes a final checklist and testing of all course-learning objects.  The user experience team is also responsible for textbook updates, course fixes and requesting copyrights as they are identified, as well as consulting with developing faculty who may need assistance with their course. We are looking for a candidate with a strong attention to detail, good communication skills, solution-driven, service oriented, and analytical with a strong work ethic. This position does not have any direct reports and will report to the Sr. Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Use a course development checklist to review all coursework to be published for online courses to ensure they are ready for students
  • Perform usability testing of all elements of a course to evaluate their functionality
  • Provide support to Learning Designers by assisting with elements of the course
  • Provide D2L consultation for faculty
  • Secure any needed copyright permissions for course materials
  • Works on multiple projects at a time
  • Communicate and report issues/errors clearly with a solution in mind
  • May participate in fast-paced design sprints from ideation to completion of courses
  • May be asked to proofread and copy edit as needed
  • May perform limited fact-checking and research as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a UX or Quality Assurance position
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Previous experience with Learning Management Systems such as D2L preferred
  • Understand the opportunities and constraints of multiple platforms (web, smartphone, tablet)
  • Experience with authoring tools such as Articulate, Lectora and HTML preferred
  • Be an enthusiastic team player with the goals of the department and university in mind
  • Ability to follow production deadlines, estimate resources and workloads, and make adjustments
  • Excellent technical skills, particularly work processing, and database skills
